Messy messy girl!

Our messiest meal to date = SPAGHETTI!!!!

We started off clean

Progressed to this

And ended like this

Then it was straight to the tub!

Life's a beach!

In September on a Friday after work we went to stay with my Mom for her last night at her timeshare. Dani hung out with Grammie and PawPaw Bruce while I got to go for a moonlit stroll on the beach with John. The next day we headed to my brother Joel's house to see him and his lovely wife MaryAnn who is due in Feb. We stayed at the house for a bit and Dani made friends with Cody their old but playful pup.

Then we walked to a local diner where MaryAnn used to work that has the best food. Dani fell asleep in the stroller on the way there and slept all through lunch. Then we walked the beach back to their house.

Once we got there we all got changed into swimsuits and headed back down to the beach. Joel gave John his first surfing lesson, John got up on his 3rd wave! But, man was he exhausted when he was done! According to him surfing is quite a workout, no wonder Joel and MaryAnn are always in such good shape.

Meanwhile we let Dani play in the sand for the first time. All she wanted to do was eat it! But it was so fun to watch!

Then we took her down to the ocean and she loved it! She started to get a bit angry because Aunt MaryAnn kept picking her up when the waves would come in. Finally the 3 of us ended up sitting in the water as the waves washed around us. Dani would smile and splash when they came in, then sit and stare and watch them go out.

Then we went back to the house, rinsed in the outside shower and hit the pool for a while. After all the water fun we went in to change out of our swim suits and you should have seen the sand in the bottom of her suit!

All in all, a fantastic weekend!

Illinois trip

So after work on Thursday, Sept 11th we left for Illinois but first we had to finish packing, meet up w/ John's Mom, and drop the car off at the shop. So about 9pm we got headed up there. We (they) drove all night, with the time change it was about 8 am when we got there. Dani slept most of the way, she traveled soooo well, here's a pic of how happy she was when we got there.

First stop, Candi's house. Everybody was there! Ready for roll call? There was John's cousin Candi, her husband Matt, their baby Logan, John's cousin Shawn, his wife Brandy, their youngest Lil Shawn, John's uncle Darryl, his new wife Joyce, her son Jason, Darryl's son Al, Darryl's daughter Shelly, her youngest Chase, John's Aunt Bea (Mom's twin) and Grandma. (I think that's everybody.) Dani was great about playing with the other babies. The first thing she did was try to steal Chase's paci on a string...twice.

Kissing cousins

Mom went to work w/ Bea and the rest of us went over to Shawn's house to hang out. That was Friday. Saturday was Grandma's birthday party at the park. Lots of family and pictures and kids playing. And yes, I include John in the kids playing. Honestly, I don't know names or relationships for half the family that was there. I kept trying to figure out who's family and who are the bingo ladies???

First is my FAVE pic of Logan

And since I finally put shoes on Dani I had to take a pic to prove it

And the one I took of me and Big Shawn (I love you Bub!)

Kids will be kids...even when the kid is actually an adult

That day some of my favorite Danica pictures were taken, be prepared, there are several.

Sunday we left Shawn's in the morning and headed to Mt. Vernon to see Rosie, Roger, and Amanda. Rosie took care of John and Tim when they were little and is the inspiration for Dani's middle name. Roger is her son and Amanda (whose middle name is also Rose) is his daughter. Even though there's no common blood these people are as much a part of our family as those who are actually related.

The first time I met Roger and Amanda they were wrestling and play fighting the whole time. Good to see they've both grown up so much.

See the green carpet in the next picture? There have been many children on that carpet. Little Roger, Little Tim, Little John, Little Amanda, and now Little Danica :)

That evening we headed home. It took 2 hours longer to get home than it did to get up there because all the gas stations in Georgia either had no gas or no power. But even with the extra time Dani was still a great traveler and a happy girl.

To see ALL the Illinois pics check out my myspace pics, they're all there. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=63446119&albumId=2470528

2 adventures in 1 day!

On July 26 before we went to Gainesville to see PaPaw Mike for the last time we had to meet some people at Alexander Springs. So Dani and I hit the nature trail, it was beautiful.

This is how the trail looks on the way out.

There are a few look out points along the way. Each with it's own beautiful view.

Then we went off the beaten trail...well, off the boarded trail.

But we ran into a road block that I just couldn't get the stroller under, over, or around

And my favorite picture of the trail on the way back

After we were done there we went to visit PaPaw and after that we went to the Florida Museum of Natural History. At the Museum they have a separate area called the butterfly rainforest. They hatch their own butterflies and have all sorts of butterfly stuff everywhere, but we didn't have time to visit the actual forest. Below are a few pics of that area and the butterflies hatching from their cocoons.

Daddy and Dani beside/under a mammoth skeleton.

Dani with the children's ambassador.

This area talks about the native FL indians, the Calusa.

And there's a whole room full of FL fossils.

I love the giant sloth! I wish I could have seen one.

Partial update

A lot has happened since I last posted. Not all good, not all bad. First let me get some of the bad stuff out of the way.

On August 8th Dani's Papaw Mike passed away. This has been very difficult for all of us. I don't want to go into detail here, this is a happy place. It saddens me greatly that she won't remember him but there's nothing I can do to change that. But he sure loved this little girl and I'm going to make sure she always knows that. Dani was adorable all dressed up. Everyone is doing okay, as much as can be expected. And that's all I'm saying about it for now.

This is my favorite picture of them

Even with all his back problems he would still get on the floor to play with her.

These are the day of his viewing. (This is also one of the dresses Dani wore in her pageant)

And these are from the day of his funeral service.

On July 26th John, Dani, and I went to visit PaPaw in the hospital in Gainesville. But first we had to meet some people at Alexander Springs. So Dani and I used that opportunity to travel the nature trails. Then after our visit the 3 of us went to the Florida Museum of Natural History. I have a lot of pictures from both of those places, but I'll put that in another blog.

August 23rd she broke her first tooth through. She was soooo good about it! She didn't fuss or anything! She was a bit warm the night before and she drooled A LOT, so much that she got heat rash on her chin. But other than that I would never have even known it was there. That weekend we were in Orlando for my class, it was also the weekend of a big gun and knife show. Dani's PawPaw Bruce was at the show so after class the 3 of us would go hang out w/ PawPaw. While at the show Grandpa Mac came to visit too. And Dani made friends with a cute guy from the Shoot Straight booth.

Skip forward several weeks to Sept 12th. Dani, Mommy, Daddy and Grandma Zonnie drove to Illinois for Grandma Smith's 80th birthday party. It was great! She's soooo spunky(Grandma Smith I mean) ! I'll do another entry later with lots of pics of the whole fam damily. That was a long weekend with lots of pics and deserves it's own space.

Then on the 21st Dani was in her first (and probably last) pageant. She was fantastic. The room was hot but she was still happy. She won lot's of trophies etc. But that will also be it's own entry.

Beyond the promised individual coming blogs I'll have to do a misc. picture blog soon. I have TONS of random adorable Danica pics to share! And I have to post pics from last weekend with Uncle Joel and Aunt MaryAnn at the beach! Such fun!!

I think that's enough for now, I'm sure I forgot something but I'll just add it in to another post or something.
